November 25th, 2023, Doug and Audélia met in Ann Arbor Michigan and watched Michigan crush Ohio in football.
December 25th Doug visited Audelia at her home... in France.
While Doug learned what cheese really was (his favorite is comté) and got to learn about real wine (not the boxed one); Audelia learned about baseball (and yes, it's still boring but a little less when your boyfriend is a mascot).
From then, they started their long-distance relationship, (Cleveland - Detroit, 276 km), seeing each other every weekend.
September of 2024, they moved in together in Birmingham Michigan.
From cocktail nights, Shabbat dinner or game nights, they made their house a home.
Their main hobby has to be escape games. They have successfully escaped 14 times (and counting).
On October 11th, 2025, they went to Empire Michigan for a weekend, that is when Doug proposed with a championship ring.

We met up at a bar to watch "The" Ohio State vs Michigan game. Doug showed up with his Michigan shirt (but his whole family is from Ohio and roots for Ohio State).... love at first sight
We went to our first escape game together. Audelia loves them and has more than 50 under her belt. This was Doug's first one. Below all the stress and the shouting, they made it out in time.
After a month of dating, Doug went to France and met all of Audelia's family. They went to their first Christmas market in La Defense and tried way too much chocolate!
During that first (ever) time in France, Doug did his second (ever) escape game with Audelias family. They walked through a mirror and escaped on time (again).
We went to New Jersey to celebrate Doug's grandma's 80th birthday. What a better way to meet the whole family!
Took a trip down to Pittsburgh. Ended up with bed bugs... we will not be going back to Pittsburgh
Spent the beginning of December 2024 in Florida with Doug's family. Ended up kayaking. Audelia really did all the work...
After the trip to Florida we went to France. Drove all the way up north to pick up this little buddy. Meet Windy.
We introduced the galette des rois to Douglas, turns out he loves it, and has had the "feve" every single time... how lucky!
Audelia had a work trip in Nashville. Doug, Noah and Oonah met up with her during the weekend and they got to see a lot of country stuff.
The NFL draft happened in Detroit. So we went ! Doug insisted on taking a picture with this helmet. Audélia then and there discovered the Bears and Browns were different teams.
Our first PSG game !
Audélia’s father was invited to speak at SudRadio and they needed someone to pick a number (the lucky number would win something with SudRadio) so they requested Doug to come on the air !
Went to visit Audélia’s great grandma in Montpellier. She only spoke in French to Doug. They played « Devine Tête » and everybody won because no one understood each other !
New years has been in France 2/3 times.
Audélia’s father spent a few days in Chicago so Doug and Audélia road tripped there ! They visited the city and Audélia’s dad watched his first baseball game !
Spent a few days in Boston. What do 3 engineers do on a Sunday? Go to the science museum!
One of our many girls night. This one turned into a mess, the margarita was drank, 2 glasses were broken, a foot was broken.
The culprit ? High School Musical.
Again with our love for escape games ! This one was a metro and we escaped on time !!
And another one ! This one was an earthquake, and we loved it as well!
Remember Windy? Yeah she loves Doug more than Audélia.
It’s fine. Totally fine.
Audélia went back to France 4 times during the summer of 2025. One of them was for relaxing vacation at her great uncles house. Pool, tennis, barbecue and France Miniature
Doug discovered a new sport he excelles at …. pétanque !
Audélia’s favorite band is Simple Plan. And they were touring in Michigan!
September 2025 was full of weddings. Celebrated Lydia and Michael Herzog.
Flew to France the following week to celebrate Grégoire and Kildine Amirat.
Football season in full effect !
Had to immortalize the moment the Browns won.

The ring not being ready due to quality concern Doug had one of his friends make a championship replica ring and proposed with it.
Ended the weekend with a visit of the cider mill where their friends surprised Audélia
A few days later they all gathered to sign the marriage license and make it official!
Freshly engaged (married) they went to Connecticut to celebrate James and Veronica Arca.
The ring made it safely on Audélia’s finger.
Doug has 3 siblings and Audélia too. The twist in each side has 6 little diamonds representing every member of the Szulman Rich families.
Celebrated Thanksgiving in New Jersey with Doug’s family.
Spent Christmas/New Years in Florida for the warmth. Ended up at a hockey game.
Spent a day in Miami and met up with Noah and Oonah. Went to Wyndwood walls.
