We're getting married!

We met when I was in graduate school and didn't have much of a social life in Cleveland. At the peak of Anthony's basketball season, before a Friday night game, he called and asked me to meet for drinks. Although it was only 5 pm, I was ready for bed and was dressed like Adam Sandler on my couch. Thinking this was a good enough excuse, and proposing we went on Saturday instead, Anthony said, "That gives you another opportunity to try to blow me off. Good thing is you have at least 3 hours to get ready, I will text you an address of where to meet me for drinks after my game", and hung up. I called my friend and asked her what to do, thinking she would side with me. She didn't, and I started getting ready. We met at one of his favorite local dive bars, Moonlight Tavern, and sat and talked for hours, until things took a turn. Anthony suddenly got super red in the face and stuttered mid-sentence, clearly taken aback by something. I proceeded to ask if he was okay, and he said, "I have to tell you something, and I don't want you to freak out or think it's weird." Turns out, his Dad and brother came to spy on us after hearing he was out with a girl. Naturally, I sent them a round of Rumpleminz shots to say hello. And the rest is history. Maybe meeting half the family on the first date isn't always a bad thing.
