Gabe and Dotti met in 2013, when Gabe was calling on Dotti’s Oncology clinic. They spent the next many years developing a great friendship. It wasn’t until June 9, 2017, when Dotti threw caution to the wind and decided to go visit Gabe in San Antonio. To both of their surprise, they couldn’t believe how easy it was and how much enjoyed each other.’s company. This ignited a spark that illuminated the path ahead. Despite the geographical distance that separated them, their love only grew, as they navigated the challenges of a long-distance relationship with unwavering devotion. Throughout their journey, they faced a myriad of trials together. They weathered several serious health scares, holding each other's hands through moments of uncertainty and fear. Whether it was navigating career challenges, or treading the depths of grief after the loss of Gabe’s father, they became each other's pillars of support, offering encouragement and a soft place to land. With Gabe’s most frequently used saying “we got this!”, they learned that together, they will always emerge stronger. In 2022, fate finally smiled upon them as Gabe made the life-changing decision to move to Fort Worth, bridging the physical distance that had long separated them. In July of 2023, Gabe and Dotti finally moved into their new home on Eagle Mountain Lake. Dotti’s two daughters Brittany and Madi, and son Tristan have welcomed Gabe with open arms and love how he makes them laugh. They are all excited about the promise of a future filled with love and endless possibilities. Their journey was not without its challenges, but through it all, Gabe and Dotti discovered the true meaning of love—a love that transcended time and distance, a love that withstands whatever life chooses to throw their way.

I really enjoyed the quiet and relaxation of my San Antonio get always. My very first visit, and all that followed, we played pool on his pool table, listened to music, watched movies and sports in the theatre room, and enjoyed sunsets on his patio. With my crazy hectic life, every visit healed my soul. I went to San Antonio for one of my regular visits. After a late brunch, Gabe asked if I wanted to go play some pool. While he was getting the music set up, I decided I would surprise Gabe with our favorite drink, after all, it is always a “special occasion” celebration when we get to see each other. I even went and put on a cute outfit just to pretend we were on a date. So I came upstairs, (looking super cute of course) carrying 2 icy Kamikaze drinks. Gabe had an intriguing smile on his face. Of course, i assumed that smile was because he must have liked my outfit and was impressed with my ability to read his mind and bring drinks. To my surprise, after a “cheers” to each other, he put the drinks down, took my hand, lead me to the stairs and asked me to sit down. He got down on one knee and opened the beautiful box, and asked me to marry him. We both knew that there would be many hurdles to overcome before we could even begin to plan our wedding. I was honored to call myself his fiancé until God aligns the stars and I can call myself his wife. After putting all of the necessary puzzle pieces together, We are ready to put that last one in its place, and officially become the Castillo Family!
