This is a celebration of our 10 years together as a couple including the last 2 married. On October 12, 2012 we started officially dating and never looked back! During the last 10 years, we have graduated college, gotten married, bought and renovated our first home together, and have the best dog we could ask for. We'd love to celebrate our 10 year anniversary with those we love.
Wyatt and Maddie both attended Zion Lutheran Church in Holland and grew up attending nursery and Sunday School together. Maddie's family remembers Wyatt as the tallest kid at church and Wyatt's family remembers Maddie as the sweet blonde girl. Wyatt and Maddie went on a mission trip to St. Louis in 2010 and that is where their first connection began. Maddie continuously kicked Wyatt's butt at cards and he still to this day won't play against her. After they arrived home they parted ways and continued their high school journeys at separate schools. In 2012, Maddie went to college in Grand Rapids and Wyatt was a senior in High School. One day Maddie decided to message Wyatt on social media and they started chatting. Maddie offered to give Wyatt a tour of Aquinas College. They never did a tour, but continued to text every single day until they decided to get together when Maddie came home from college one weekend. On October 12, 2012 Wyatt came over to Maddie's house and they watched Finding Nemo together. They have been together ever since that day!
Wyatt and Maddie decided to take a weekend trip to Traverse City where they had recently visited a few months before. They decided to go wine tasting on the Leelaneau wine trail. They made a couple stops at Boathouse Winery and BluStone Vineyards before heading to one of their favorite spots. They went to Black Star Farms where they had previously toured of the property and done some wine tasting. Maddie sampled a few wines in their tasting room while Wyatt took a break from the samples. They took their time at the tasting room and then Wyatt suggested they go see if the restaurant on the property was open for lunch. When they went there it wasn't open, but they walked a bit further and decided to take a picture with the vinyards behind them. They took a picture together and Wyatt then told Maddie that he had a present for her and to close her eyes. She closed her eyes and when she opened them he was holding a ring and made his proposal. She said yes! Maddie and Wyatt promptly call their parents and siblings and continue celebrating at a cidery with a great view at the top of a hill. Later that evening, Wyatt had made a reservation at a restaurant where much of their family surprised Maddie to celebrate over dinner.
