Our first encounter happened on our high school campus back in 2004, when one of us watched the other skateboard away at full speed while being chased by a campus officer. We’ll let you guess who was on the skateboard (spoiler: it’s exactly who you think). Throughout high school, our paths crossed here and there. We were friendly, comfortable, and always had great conversations whenever we ran into each other. It wasn’t until college, though, that we really grew close—spending late nights eating Juan Pollo, meeting up with mutual friends, chasing the ice cream truck down Jefferson Street, or just cooling off on a porch during a classic SoCal heatwave. Eventually, life did what it does best, and we drifted apart for a while as we went to different schools and focused on building our careers. Fast forward to 2018, when fate (and a high school reunion) brought us back together. We spent the whole night talking, laughing, and admitting we wished we hadn’t lost touch. This time, we didn’t let the moment pass—we started talking again and finally decided to shoot our shot. And thankfully, no campus officers were involved.
