We met during our final college years through a mix of mutual friends, good timing, and a little bit of Dil Mil doing its thing. What started off easy quickly turned into something we weren’t willing to let go of, even when life tried to make it complicated. And by complicated, we mean long distance. A lot of it. From California to Philadelphia, Arizona, and St. Louis, our relationship was built on flights, FaceTimes, Netflix parties, and navigating different time zones while life kept moving us for school and work. Somewhere along the way, distance stopped feeling like distance, because no matter where we were, we had already found our way back to each other. We have always been different in the little things. We have different personalities, different routines, and could basically never share anything off the same menu. Somehow, though, we have always been in sync where it matters most. Through every stage, every move, and every new chapter, we kept choosing each other. Even when the path wasn’t easy, we always knew where we were headed. Now, after years of doing life miles apart, we are finally in the same place. We are still opposites, still best friends, and more certain than ever. And this time, there are no return flights. You were always the light that led me home.
