We were born in different places—Kim in Rochester, Minnesota, and Andrew in Cincinnati, Ohio—but life had a way of bringing us closer. Our paths first crossed in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We both went to Forest Hills Eastern High school. We knew of each other, and were Facebook friends, but we didn’t hang out or date at all. From there, our lives kept running in parallel. We both attended Grand Rapids Community College, spending time with the same group of friends from Eastern in the Quiet Café, yet somehow never at the same time. We both graduated with associate degrees at the same time and transferred to Grand Valley State University. We both spent our time in the Arts building at GVSU, where once again, our paths never seemed to align. After graduating, things finally changed. In 2015, Kim was going to more concerts than Andrew’s band was playing. One day, she posted on Facebook about seeing “the best concert ever” – Alt-J in Detroit – complete with about a million excited photos. Andrew, also an Alt-J fan, liked the post and sent her a message, asking if she’d like to come help photograph a recording session. She said yes. That moment finally brought us together. We reconnected at the shoot, started hanging out, and quickly realized how much fun we had talking about music, sharing playlists, and going to shows. Kim took Andrew to his first EDM concert, which changed his life forever. By December 27, 2015, we officially started dating – just before Andrew went on a six-month tour. Even from afar, we talked every single day, and when he came home, our relationship blossomed. In October 2016, we took a big leap and moved to Nashville with Andrew’s band. The band didn’t last, but in hindsight, it was the biggest blessing of all. It brought us to the life we now love in East Nashville, together. On June 8, 2024, Andrew proposed, and Kim said yes. After years of near-misses, serendipitous timing, and adventures together, we’re so excited to finally get married on October 8, 2026, at The Chapel at High Point Farms, surrounded by our families. Afterward, we’ll head to the Great Smoky Mountains for a few days of celebration, love, and memories in a cozy mountain home with the people who mean the most to us.
