Weeks prior to the actual date, Alex had asked me if I wanted to go to a comedy show for a date night. Naturally, I said of course! In the weeks and days leading up to that Saturday, I kept asking Alex if he had gotten tickets to the show yet. His response was, “I’ll get them” but never actually did. About a week prior, I took matters into my own hands and started looking at tickets, reminding Alex that if we didn’t get tickets soon they would sell out. He brushed it off and reassured me that he would handle it and get the tickets. Fast forward to the day before! Alex finally shared his “plans” with me. We were going to get dinner at Becket’s on the river, then go up to Green Bay for the Comedy show at 7pm. We finished getting ready and decided to walk to the restaurant since it was a nice day. Alex suggested that since we had some time to kill before our reservation, we should walk along the river. Thinking nothing of it, I happily agreed. We walked down along the edge of the river and out onto a pier, just like when Alex *finally* decided to ask me to be his girlfriend. Little did I know that this moment would be one I would never forget… Alex positioned us and took my hands in his. He started sharing how strong his love was, how happy he was to have found me, and how excited he was at the thought of spending our lives together. I finally realized what was happening, and (shocker) the water works started. He got down on one knee and pulled out a ring, asking me to marry him! Of course I said yes about a hundred times, hehe. Little did I know that my good friend Heather and her daughter had captured the entire event! Those two had been working together for weeks planning this whole thing. Everything went so smoothly and we could not be more happy! You may hear from Alex’s friends that he’s not the most romantic person on earth. I guess it just takes the right person. After dinner, I found out Alex had all our close friends come together to celebrate our engagement with darts, drinks and dancing. To quote Alex, “So yeah, there’s not actually a comedy show”. A huge thank you to everyone who helped keep the proposal a secret. We are so excited for this next chapter and cannot wait to celebrate with all of our friends and family. ❤️
