Classic “it’s too complicated” logic... but clearly, we were not very good in following that plan. A month of daily calls and late-night stories later, Doreen flew to visit Ale in Spain. After just 16 days together (plus a month of falling for each other over the phone), we decided to give long-distance a real shot and just see what happened. What happened? A lot. Time zones. Airports. Cooking together in random kitchens. Road trips. Meeting each other’s families, even when they didn’t speak our language and still finding ways to laugh, bond, and share stories. We tested out living together across different cities and continents, and somehow, it always felt like home. Then one sunny morning, with birds chirping and coffee brewing, Doreen pulled out a ring. Ale said “YES!” before the question even fully landed...and then, within 24 hours, Ale accidentally broke the ring. Oops. But no worries—we got new ones. Matching, unbreakable (hopefully), and exactly right for us. After three years of a truly international love story full of surprises, distance, reunions, and a lot of heart we’re getting married.
