There was so much to look forward to with each of us taking our own chances in relocating from our hometown roots. It wasn’t until we both discovered ourselves in the first state of Delaware, filled with big dreams, bright futures and, in good time, open hearts, that we found love. Sparked by an interest to enjoy a weeknight social gathering and a healthy dose of competition, we joined our respective kickball teams. It’s with a special thanks to a fateful recruitment that opponents gave way to teammates. It was there, during a fielded play as I called out for the pop-up, that our newest outfielder backed up the play and our fate was sealed. As I began backpedaling to catch the ball for the out, Christian instinctively stepped up to catch me in his arms. You might say we quite literally fell in love! Okay, of course it wasn’t until after several engagements in post game commentary and a small effort of persistence that I accepted a first date to see a Sixers game. From there, our relationship continued to grow as we enthusiastically discovered our common passions beyond just athletics, including exploring beautiful nearby parks and trails, co-creating culinary masterpieces, loving on our best boy Cooper, continuing to build our new home together, spending quality time with our closest family and friends (especially our Goddaughter Maura) and taking opportunities to travel whenever possible. When our lives were turned upside down during quarantine, words cannot express how beyond blessed it has made us feel to have found one another. For as much as it has challenged us, it has undoubtedly strengthened us and shaped the incredible love that we share each day. It came as no surprise that when Christian was ready to pop the question, he got down on one knee at the very field that stole our hearts. The message was clear - life won’t always be a perfect game, but as long as we’re together it will always be worth playing.
