Check out this website for a great map of Santorini and a run down of all the main areas on the island. Our venue Venetsanos Winery is shown on this map. On the day of the wedding we will be providing transport to/from Kamari. However there are lots of lovely areas so it is up to you where you would like to stay! The island is pretty small so only takes about 20 mins to drive from one side to the other! https://santorinidave.com/best-places-santorini
Travel Note
Kamari is located on the 'beach side' of the island. More suitable for families and children as it is not as steep as the other side of the island, and also cheaper than accommodation on the Caldera side, but still only a short journey to the main town of Fira. The beaches on Santorini tend to have black sand that can be pebbly and can get hot in the mid day sun. Kamari has loads going on with restaurants, bars and loads of hotel and accommodation options. We will be staying in Kamari for most of our time before and after the wedding.
Travel Note
Fira is the main town in Santorini, and one of the most picturesque spots, located on the famous Caldera, built into the cliffside over-looking the amazing view of the sea and volcano. There is loads going on here, restaurants, shops, nightlife. It can get pretty busy and hectic, and are a lot of stairs and cobbled streets! Hotels can get more expensive here, especially ones over-looking the caldera. Firostefani is a 10 minute walk outside of Fira and is where we stayed last time we visited Santorini! For something a bit quieter than Fira but still with those amazing views it is a great choice.
Flight
EasyJet, British Airways & Tui fly direct from London and Manchester to Santorini Airport (approx. 4 hours). Use skyscanner to find the best deals! Or flights via Athens or other European cities tend to be cheaper. Aegean Airlines fly direct from Athens to Santorini (approx. 50 mins). Other airlines fly direct from major European cities.
Travel Note
Ferries and boats leave and arrive daily from Santorini to Athens and to other Greek Islands.
