Donovan and Chelsea’s story began the way many great ones do: by accident or perhaps by divine appointment. They first met at a summer camp job orientation, surrounded by nervous excitement, name tags, and the promise of a season that would change more than just their resumes. Chelsea transferred to Winston-Salem State University—where Donovan was already a student and, to her surprise, well known across campus. Wanting to focus on her own journey, Chelsea decided to keep her distance. Yet no matter how much she tried, their paths kept crossing—on walkways, at events, in moments that felt far too intentional to be coincidence. Slowly, the connection returned. Together, they discovered that love grows strongest when it is patient, forgiving, and anchored in faith. Six years later, here they stand—not by chance, but by purpose. What once seemed like coincidence now reflects the truth of Proverbs 16:9: “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Today, Donovan and Chelsea choose each other before God, their family, and their friends.
