If you ask us when we first met each other, you would hear two very different stories from two very different days. For John, he recalls first meeting Emma on a Sunday afternoon after church, up in Berkeley, CA. He remembers a mutual friend introducing him to Emma, his impression of her was of how pretty and articulate she was. For Emma, she would tell you that although she had known of John, her first meeting and conversation with him was a few weeks later. As she climbed into their friends car to go play mini golf, she noticed John in the seat opposite to her. Her small group leader handed her some food and before diving in, offered John a bite to which he kindly replied no and then said nothing else to her the rest of the drive. Her first impression of John at this point was that he was definitely that handsome, quiet type. Unbeknowst to each other, we both started to develop small feelings for one another. It wasn't until the pandemic hit, forcing everyone inside, that we took up texting one another randomly and then progressively more over time. From sharing songs and playlists as excuses to text one another, to deeper conversations and confiding truths in each another. Those months of isolation were spent forming a deep rooted friendship, the foundation of our love. As time went on, we both ended up confessing feelings to one another and decided to try out dating during our senior year in college. After a year of wonderful memories and the blessing of spending each day together, John went to serve in the US Army, being stationed in places like Texas, Poland, Latvia, and Virginia, while Emma moved back home to SoCal. And so began the journey of an almost 4 year long-distance relationship. Although long-distance was one of the hardest things to overcome in our relationship, there have been many blessings to have come out of it and lessons we both learned, individually and together. It has been a long journey and we are so excited to celebrate this long anticipated union!
