Krewe is near and dear to our hearts. Their menu changes with the seasons and includes a compelling mix of everything New Orleans culture has to offer, including Cajun, Creole, Italian, Vietnamese, and Irish-influenced dishes. Krewe is open for lunch, dinner, and on Sundays, they're open for brunch! We recommend booking a reservation if you choose to get dinner or brunch here!
We highly recommend you stop by when you're in the area. This adorable, woman-owned French inspired bakery is one of the best in the nation. (We're not just saying that! in 2024, Flour and Flower was named as one of the 22 best bakeries in the nation according to The New York Times!). Grab a coffee and treat yourself to Chef Erin's award winning pastries, sandwiches, and pie. Their coffee is phenomenal, and we just love the Flour and Flower team. Make sure you say "hello" to Chef Erin if you go and visit!
Four restaurants in one! The House is a community cultivating dining space that Anthony and Bernie love to visit. There's a variety of things for everyone at The House. Stop by and choose between (or get a little something from each of these incredible kitchens) 98 Hawaiian Grill, Birdie's Pizza & Garden Bar, Joetown Smashburger, and Eminent Coffee Roasters! There's also a self-serve tap wall with 30 different beers and wines to choose from. No reservations required!
Visit the Milk and Honey Taproom for fresh, delicious cider. We love the atmosphere of Milk and Honey - sit inside or outside and enjoy a beverage! Kid and Pet friendly
We're getting married here!!! But in case you want to visit when the Church is a little less busy, The Abbey is stunning and worth taking a walk through. This year, the relic of St. Peregrine is on display. Let Anthony and Bernie know if you want more information about visiting! The monastic community prays the Liturgy of the Hours at 7am, 12pm, and 7pm. They celebrate mass every week day at 5pm, on Saturday at 10am, and on Sunday at 10:30am. You are welcome to join any of these services!
Visit Richard Bresnahan's renowned Pottery Studio on the campus of Saint John's University! The studio is open for visitors on weekdays from 1:15-4:30pm and on Saturdays from 10:00am-4:30pm. We recommend visiting around 3pm for tea time with the studio artists and apprentices - they're phenomenal company!
While you're on Saint John's Campus, stop by Alcuin Library to visit the Saint John's Bible Gallery. The Saint John’s Bible Gallery showcases 28 original pages from the seven volumes of The Saint John’s Bible in a student-curated exhibition. Rare books and manuscripts from the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library collections complement the exhibition of the folios. Tools, materials and sketches used in the creation of The Saint John’s Bible give a glimpse into the processes used to create this monumental work of faith and art. The gallery is open from Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There is no admission charge, and no reservations are needed for a self-guided tour. If you've got a group together, guided tours for groups of ten or more are available by making a reservation in advance by contacting Tim Ternes at 320-363-3351 or tternes@csbsju.edu.
An adorable coffee shop in Sartell, MN! We love their coffee, baked goods, and breakfast items. We recommend trying their avocado toast, egg sandwiches (Bernie's favorite is the "Not Your Average Egg Sandwich") and their Cortado (Anthony's favorite!)
We went here on our first date and loved browsing through books with each other. If you're a book person, we highly recommend visiting this charming small local bookstore in downtown Saint Cloud!
This incredible coffee shop is where we spent nearly 3 hours talking on our first date. Needless to say, it's a great place to spend time with someone you want to get to know (or already know well!) for a sweet treat and delicious coffee
Visit Jules' Bistro in downtown Saint Cloud for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! We love the atmosphere of Jules', and their wonderful food and coffee is just a bonus. Jules' has incredible made-from-scratch pizzas, sandwiches, soups, and pastries. Reservations are welcome, but not necessary!
These free botanical gardens are stunning and delightful to walk through! The gardens are open every day from 7:00am to 10:00pm.
The Quarry Park and Nature Area is a serene place to walk or hike, with 684 acres of beautiful land near Waite Park. Hiking trails loop pass close to 20 former quarries that have filled in with spring water, creating peaceful pools that reflect surrounding rocks walls and piles of granite chunks. If you hear whoops and big splashes, you’ve reached the park’s summer hot spot—Melrose Deep 7—where swimmers and a few daredevils launch themselves off rock ledges and into the 112-feet-deep swimming hole. It may be too chilly in early May to jump in, but if you're feeling brave, bring a swim suit and go for it!
A local favorite! Bad Habit Brewery has something for everyone. A great, relaxing place to enjoy a beverage (and if you're lucky, maybe some live music!). We usually bring food from another location in St. Joe over to Bad Habit to enjoy with drinks.
