They first met during Kathleen's internship interview at Nick's company Medix. Following her Dad's advice, Kathleen tried to connect with Nick on something personal to seal her fate as a potential new hire. By pure luck, Kathleen managed to bring up college sports and once Butler Basketball became a topic of discussion, well let's just say she got the job. After Kathleen rounded out her last year at EIU, Nick asked her to dinner in Chicago. Shortly after, they rekindled their summer romance and began dating. After many concerts, Cubs games, and a Lincoln Park apartment, Nick took a knee and asked for Kathleen's hand in marriage.
