We have worked with one another for years, but Covid brought us together. We started talking after a Valentine's dinner with work friends. After about a month of text conversations we began to take long walks in the Bosque together. We talked for hours, walked for miles, and grew fonder of one another along the way. We also went to church in the park together. We have bonded as we have spent many hours and dollars along with with shedding tears and blood restoring our 1978 Volkswagen Campmobile.
On a chilly January day Shawna was called to go on a three week Covid relief mission in California. So Don wanted Shawna to know that he would be here for her when she got home. While she was in the midst of packing and freaking out, they went on a walk in the Bosque to relax. While they were looking for a familiar trail with a nice log to sit on, they lost their way and had to crawl around on beaver trails to get through the thorn bushes. They eventually made it to the river with a few battle wounds. Don then wanted to take a picture so he placed his phone in a tree. Shawna was gazing at the mighty Rio Grande and when she turned around Don was down on one knee. Shawna, of course, said yes! They never found the log and then they began the trek back.
