Although it’s not a fairytale love story, the way we met makes total sense for the two of us looking back. Neither of us were really looking for someone, but after some (rather constant) nagging from our friends at work we reluctantly agreed to go on a date. And let me tell you that first date was catastrophic. I was a nervous mess and for some reason Mike was still wanting a second one. Boy am I ever glad he could see past the ridiculous ball of nerves that I was and took me out a second time. That’s really where it started, we had time to actually talk and get to know one another and it all fell in place from there. It also helps that we met and still work at Walmart, which was our saving grace early on and didn’t have the schedules to see each other outside of work. I guess it’s true what they say - you really can find love anywhere and when you least expect it.
Nine months may not seem like a long time to quite a few people, but to us it feels like it’s been forever. We mean that in the best possible way, we feel like we’ve always felt like we were made for each other and that time somehow has always mocked us. Anyway, I came home from work one day to find the apartment empty, everything was turned off but Mike’s car was still in the parking lot. Strange, but I went with it (after playing with the dog for a good five minutes, much to Mike’s dismay, poor guy had to wait for that to end) and went to the bedroom to put away my keys and my coat like usual. Except I found mike waiting, dresses up in a purple shirt I love on him and candles lit. He wasted no time in getting on one kneee and asking me to marry him. He cried, it was cute. I laughed, because that’s my go to nervous habit and the rest is history. Or, we’ll, writing what will one day be our history. Here’s to the future!
