How we met

Cassandra Dudar and Nick Domino met skiing over Valentine’s Day 2015 in Stratton Vermont. Despite running in similar Manhattan circles, the two had never met. They had been in the same 50-person room at NYC US Squash events and there are pictures of them feet apart at the same Lily Pulitzer party a year prior. Alas, it took a captivating conversation just off the slopes in Stratton Vermont at Mulligan’s for them to meet. The two struck up a conversation and were immediately taken by one another. Nick’s ADD halted just for a moment as he zoned in on Cassie’s every word. Meanwhile, Cassie stopped worrying for the first time all day as she felt immediately at ease with Nick. After about 15 minutes of conversation, Cassie asked this new, potentially charming, stranger what he did. Nick deflected only to hear from Cassie that she as an HVAC engineer in New York City construction (which is indeed true). Having clients and exposure in the industry, Nick thought there was no way this gorgeous woman could be in construction and presumed this sweet blonde helmet-haired fuzzball was pulling his leg. So, Nick told Cassie he was a professional ice-sculptor (he is not). Despite Cassie’s rebuffs, Nick stuck with his story. It was this puzzle crafted by this smitten sophomoric, yet clever young man, that nearly stumped this brilliant one woman. This dance carried on for 15 minutes until Nick admitted “fine, fine I am not actually an ice sculptor. Finally thought Cassie. Alas, Nick continued “ice sculpting is the romanticized version of what I do. In fact, I run a dry ice shipping business out of Hunt's Point in the Bronx.”

...continued

Being terse was never our forte

The two continued this dance for no less than 20 minutes proving immediately that Cassie’s sleuthing and exceptional emotional intelligence might be the final match for Nick. Cassie recounts the evening as “it was so cute to watch him squirm and come up with these wild stories thinking he was actually tricking me….His special dried ice is made of patented dihydrogen monoxide. Really!?! He actually thought an engineer doesn’t know the chemical name for water!” Nick was wrong, Cassie was right. That how it started; and most believe one day, maybe a century from now, that is how it will end. Nick invited Cassie and all her friends back to a gathering at the house later in the evening. Before leaving Stratton on that fateful weekend, Cassie secured a date with Nick later that week by beating him in a game of billiards. Sans work trips, the couple would be surprised if they had spent more than 30 days apart since setting the stage not only to become husband and wife but more importantly best friends.

The Proposal

"Are you ready for it to be Christmas every day of your life"

Last December the couple returned to that very same billiards table where they bet their first date. After a late-night trip up to Stratton, Cassie was set to settle in wearing her cozy onesie. Nick, with a glass of wine in hand, had clandestinely hidden a ring in one of the pockets of the pool table. While, lining up a shot Nick again offered Cassie a wager, asking what she would want if she won. “A Ring, I want a ring!” was the answer only moments before the 8-ball veered into the pocket on a for a table scratch. Nick was loser again, but this time really the winner.

Their life together

spent with friends and family

While Cassie is an engineer by trade, she is a drill sergeant on the weekends, making sure that the burgeoning Domino family always stops for hikes along our travels. Cassie loves time in the sun and outdoors and frequently jokes that their many children will be able to hike and swim before they can walk. Meanwhile, Nick likes his board games and puzzles, and God help you if you try to ask him a question during a Buffalo Bills game. Nick knows his life’s purpose it to be the most authentic businessman, friend, and partner he can be. He achieves this by actively listening (well sometimes inactively), being a stickler for self-discipline, creating lifelong memories with a group of raving lunatics and beloved friends. He works hard to orient his manic and many pursuits for the betterment of Cassie, his family, friends, clients, and employees. A little over a year since the proposal the couple recently bought their first home in Manhattan. As they take a break from the construction they are doing on the apartment, they look forward to sharing their vows with you and celebrating their union with family and friends on the evening of March 21st 2020.
