Dominique and Austin first met on a school trip through the history program at their high school, Western Albemarle. The trip was World War 2 themed and whisked the pair off to London, Normandy, Paris, and the beautiful countryside of France. While they did not know of each other before this trip, Austin was able to make friends with a delightful trio of ladies on the excursion and among them was Dominique. Austin first spoke to Dominique and her best friend Diana after visiting a graveyard for soldiers that died in the battle of Normandy. Their first meal together was at a lovely restaurant in a small French town where they tried escargot for the first time. They continued talking throughout the remainder of the trip which concluded with them sharing their first kiss in Paris and holding hands under a blanket on their flight back to the states. Dominique and Austin’s relationship flourished as they enjoyed their final year in high school together. From homecoming dance, football games, and rowing regattas to prom, graduation, and a joyous mountain week trip, the young lovebirds made the most of their time together knowing that it would come to an end one day soon. Dominique chose to attend the University of Oregon, and Austin attended to the United States Air Force Academy. So began the most difficult time in their relationship, four years of long distance. Dominique and Austin remained committed to each other even with the distractions of military room inspections in Colorado and raucous parties in Eugene. They texted each other every day of the week, and video chatted for half an hour to an hour each day. Whenever there was an opportunity to get away from USAFA, Austin would go see Dominique in Eugene or they would both travel back to Virginia together. Since then, Austin and Dominique created a beautiful life together experiencing the cold winters of Boston, the hot summers of Albuquerque, caring for their beloved cat Rory, and embarked on many exciting adventures along the way. The rest of the story is yet to be written, and we thank every one of our guests each of whom had a significant impact on our lives and development. We look forward to celebrating our enduring love with you on a beautiful fall day in Crozet, Virginia. Adieu jusque-là!
