Great Smoky Mountains National Park
If you're feeling adventurous, there's nothing better than a day in the mountains! The entrance of the park is about 45 minutes from downtown Knoxville. From there you can either drive and take advantage of numerous "pull off" spots which are perfect for pictures. Cade's Cove is also a scenic drive for those not looking to hike. For those interested in hiking: Charlie's Bunion, the Jump Off, Alum Cave, and Mt. LeConte are our favorites! ** PLEASE NOTE: some trails are rated difficult and weather can impact hiking conditions this early in the season.**
Neyland Stadium
Nothing says Tennessee more than the VOLS! Around here everyone bleeds orange and Rocktop is a household song. For the sports fans looking for something to do, we recommend walking around UT campus. You can see a great view of Neyland stadium by standing on the Gay Street walking bridge.
Historic Dogwoods Trails
Knoxville’s iconic Dogwood Trails date back to 1955 and today cover more than 85 miles in 12 neighborhoods throughout the city. Take a drive, a walk, or a bike ride and enjoy the scenic natural beauty of our region! Visit the link here to locate the various trails and gardens across Knoxville! The official Dogwoods Arts festival takes place every April, so you are here at the best time.
Vida
We have celebrated several milestones here, so this restaurant is a bit sentimental for us! Food is pan-latin with an asian flare and is served "tapas" style (meaning 'small plates to share for the table'). Additionally, there is an upscale bar underneath the restaurant called "The Vault". It is a great spot for pre or post dinner drinks. Please Note: reservations are recommended for both Vida and the Vault.
Chivo Taqueria
According to the website, Chivo offers "gourmet tacos & an extensive tequila menu offered in a dark, rustic-chic tavern with a trendy vibe. Badass Tacos and an Extensive Tequila Menu in Downtown Knoxville. It’s that simple. Chivo Taqueria has a unique and trendy vibe with a crazy specifc attention to detail, not just with our food but our cocktails... We are proud to shake the best margarita in Knoxville. Our menu was created from our interpretation of street tacos and artfully combined American and Mexican cultures. We aren’t trying to be authentic, we are original— from our combination of ingredients, and our masterfully mixed cocktails– using only freshly squeezed juices (yes, we fresh squeeze all of our mixtures daily)." NOTE from Dom + Makayla: We love the chicken quesadilla or the brisket burrito!
Kefi
Kefi offers Mediterranean inspired cuisine in a fun upscale environment. Enjoy a nice dinner here or stop by for pre/post dinner drinks. NOTE: this is one of Makayla's favorite spots for cocktails. They even offer a cocktail flight for those feeling bold.
Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar
For those looking for some good southern cooking and/or brunch, this is a great upscale southern restaurant. Tupelo Honey is one of two restaurants located in the historic Oliver Hotel within downtown Market Square. Note: this is a popular spot, so we recommend making a reservation.
Wild Love Bakehouse
We have quite a sweet tooth, so Wild Love might just be our favorite spot in Knoxville! If you enjoy coffee or pastries, this must be at the top of your list while in town. They are open Wednesday - Sunday until 2pm. Please NOTE: all items are served until they are out, so we recommend going by 11 on Saturdays.
Abridged Beer Company (Brewpub)
Depending on who you talk to, Abridged has the best burger in town and some pretty great beer to go along with it. Dom recommends the grilled chicken Abridged and Makayla recommends the Toppy Rock IPA to go along with it! The pot roast nachos are also a great option. Please NOTE: there are no reservations here, so go early to avoid the wait.
