How did you meet?

Kirsti: We met on Eharmony, an online dating website. My family has been ‘strongly suggesting’ it for awhile and lockdown gave me the final push I needed. Dominick captured my interest immediately as he asked deep intelligent questions. A lot of questions. His curiosity, humor, and passion drew me and I thought he was super cool. It only took about a couple of weeks of talking to realize we really should meet in person. We met as soon as lockdown ended. In the middle of 2020. Turns out God can make good out of even the strangest years. Dominick: I signed up for Eharmony on a whim and I'm sure glad I did. Kirsti was on the very first page of potential matches and there was simply no comparison. While most people on the site tried to keep it brief in their dating profiles, the both of us practically wrote essays. Just a few seconds looking at what Kirsti had written made it eminently clear that she had a warm personality with a unique approach to life and a deep-seated love for Jesus (and was strikingly beautiful, to boot). Although I'd subscribed to Eharmony for a year, I really only needed it for just one weekend. Kirsti was the one for me.

What was the first date like?

After a couple weeks of chatting by text and Zoom -- in proper Covid fashion -- we were both eager to meet face to face... and both a little nervous. In the first few minutes of sitting down and chatting at Elsa's Ethiopian (10/10 would recommend) it became apparent that the two of us were hitting it off splendidly. We talked about everything from culture, to Jesus, to family, to food. Before we knew it, 9 hours had elapsed. It was safe to say we would be meeting again soon. In fact, other than a couple terrible weeks (when Dominick contracted Covid), we've been able to traverse the 3 hour distance to see each other every single week.

What do you like to do together?

We love food. Eating it, buying it, learning about it, and especially making it. We work well in the kitchen together and find a special kind of joy in cooking for friends and family. We love stories. A lot of our time is spent reading, telling, playing, and watching stories. Whether it's curling up on the couch to take turns reading aloud, or going to the movies and having the whole theater to ourselves, we love stories. We love people. Deep conversations and warm hospitality, with family and friends and especially with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We talk a lot with each other and have loved our conversations with all of you!

How did he propose?

Dominick: Nervously. :) Kirsti: I thought I was headed to dinner with my sister (who had surreptitiously told me to look nice). I looked up from my car to see him walking towards me the gig was up. Though it was closed for dining, we walked to our first date restaurant where an amazing video and a carefully crafted card awaited me. Then he went down on one knee and neither of us could remember exactly how I responded besides, “yes.”

Where are you headed?

Only God knows. Dominick is a pastor and is looking for a church where he can serve in this upcoming season. We're still in the process of asking the Lord where He would have us go. While nothing's certain, we're beyond glad to be moving into this next chapter together
