God knew what was up

written by amanda, edited by hunter

April 3rd, 2025. It’s 8 a.m., the coffee hasn’t kicked in, and two people walk into a physical therapy clinic in Dawsonville, GA. Amanda—sleep-deprived and just trying to make it through the day.
Hunter—one month post-surgery for a broken fibula. Both had spent the past three months walking through challenges, trusting that God was in control, but still wondering what He was up to. Neither of them had any idea that God had them exactly where they needed to be. That morning, Amanda was given the choice between two patients: the “18-year-old knee” or the “30-year-old ankle.” She chose the ankle—Hunter. Over the next hour, Amanda put Hunter through a series of exercises (which he would later describe as torture), though he didn’t seem to mind much that day. When the session ended, neither of them knew if they’d ever see each other again. But two weeks later, they found themselves back in the clinic—together. This time, Amanda pulled a subtle move, getting Hunter into a clinic photo. Later, she texted him asking for “permission” to use it on the website. Hunter recognized the opportunity and took his shot—he asked her out. The rest is history. Of course, there was one important question left: would Hunter’s cat, Steve, approve of Amanda being around so much? Thankfully, Amanda came prepared—with catnip—and Steve quickly became a big fan. 2025 was full of curveballs, and the path forward wasn’t always simple. But through it all, Amanda and Hunter knew they had found their person—and that God would see them through. Exactly one year later, on January 3rd—the same day Hunter broke his leg—he asked Amanda to marry him. If there’s one thing we’ve learned over this past year, it’s that God has a sense of humor—but He is always at work… literally. We’re beyond excited to start this next chapter together, trusting that God is guiding us every step of the way.
