While our invitations request a response by July 17 for in-person and online RSVPs, USPS is experiencing longer-than-usual delays. Please do mail in your RSVP (Don't forget to write your name(s) on your RSVP card!) as soon as possible, as we must have a headcount to the caterer by 8/3. If you are uncertain about your attendance, or don't have time to mail back the RSVP, please reach out to Jamie by text 214-300-1075 or by email at jkathleenjohnson@gmail.com.
Yes! We are working with Wedfuly, an online wedding coordinator, to live stream the ceremony and first half of the reception, and encourage full participation (toasts, readings, virtual dinner tables, and dancing!) from our online guests. Professional tech support will be available prior to and throughout the occasion, so please don't text the groom or his co-workers for help during the ceremony ;) . Online guests will be asked to adhere to cocktail attire dress code to truly make the event special. Please see the Live-Streaming Instructions here in our website!
The ceremony begins at 6:00pm sharp, so guests are encouraged to arrive at 5:30. Light refreshments will be available prior to the ceremony.
Yes! Cocktail attire - black tie optional.
Of course! Please make sure to RSVP your +1s!
I like Emily Post's response to this question: Consideration, Respect, Honesty. Wearing a face-covering will be left to individual guests' discretion. We will taking temperatures of staff, wedding party, and all guests at the door and will provide wedding-themed fabric face coverings and personal hand sanitizers for all our guests. We encourage guests to wear face-coverings when not eating or drinking. So! If you're visiting over cocktails, just make sure you're standing 6ft apart!
While we have 6000sqft at our disposal (approx. 100 sqft per guest), all guests are on the honor system to maintain safe social distance - that's 6ft/2m apart, or about two arm lengths. If you are closer than that, we ask that you wear your face covering and gently encourage the person you're visiting with to do so as well. Dining tables are 8ft in diameter, and we will be seating between 4 and 6 guests per table. Every consideration will be taken to seat families who are already comfortable dining in close proximity.
If your children are invited, their names will appear on the invitation. That said, family is family. Mature children are not unwelcome (the bride fondly remembers attending weddings at an early age), but we kindly request you contact the bride and groom and ask them personally.
Yes! There is a massive covered parking garage in between Main and Elm - The Elm Street Garage - right across the street from the venue. The garage entrance is on Elm, one street north of Main, so be prepared to turn on Pearl and make the block if you miss the entrance. There is also a paid parking lot on the west side of the venue.
All hotels we listed on this website are either within walking distance or are a short Uber or Lyft ride to the venue.
Yes. Please indicate "dietary restriction" on the RSVP card. We are offering vegetarian fare as a standard option for all our guests. Please indicate "vegetarian" on the RSVP card. For other food concerns, please contact the bride at 214-300-1075.
We're getting hitched, come COVID-Hell or high water, but our ability to do in the physical presence of our families, friends, and colleagues is beyond our control. In the event that a shut-down once again occurs on our wedding date, we plan to relocate (somewhere!) and live-stream the ceremony for our guests. The reception will be rescheduled during a time when it is both safe and legal to gather at The Room on Main. In the event of yet another postponement, we have considered both a mid-December 2020 and a late-May 2021 reception date. We will be updating this website frequently, and will also communicate details by USPS. In the meantime, pray pray pray that people do the right thing so we can stop the spread of this virus. <3
