How we Met

What started as a conversation on Hinge quickly turned into something worth waiting for. With busy fall schedules, Meaghan and Eric spent about a month getting to know each other before finally meeting in person—but that extra time only made their first date more anticipated. From the start, there was a sense of who the other person was: Eric came across as adventurous and ready to put down roots in New Hampshire, while Meaghan was friendly, intelligent, and full of passion. Their first date, however, was anything but conventional. In what could be considered a bold (and slightly questionable) decision, Meaghan agreed to meet Eric—still technically a stranger—at a remote hiking location with limited cell service. Thankfully, she brought along her loyal (and very protective) golden retriever, Augie. And as Eric still likes to remind everyone, there was a police station at the trailhead… just in case. Despite the setting, the date was a success—Eric even showed up with flowers. But it wasn’t just that first impression that mattered. Meaghan realized this relationship was something different during a simple day of Christmas shopping together, when an ordinary weekend somehow felt perfect. For Eric, it clicked a little differently—on their first ski trip together, spending the day on the mountain and sharing a hobby he loves, he knew this was something truly special.

Our Relationship

Since then, life together has been a mix of adventure, laughter, and learning to grow side by side. They share a love for the outdoors—especially hiking—and make the most of New England summers with pool days followed by outdoor movie nights. And when they’re not outside, a competitive board game night is never far behind. Like any strong relationship, theirs has also been shaped by meaningful moments. They’ve supported each other through the loss of beloved grandparents and learned what it really means to show up for one another. They’ve also had hands-on practice as a team—especially during a memorable stretch caring for their nephews Joey and Jameson—where they mastered the art of dividing and conquering busy days (and nights). At the heart of it all, it’s the little things they admire most: Meaghan loves Eric’s nerdiness, compassion, and enthusiasm for the outdoors, while Eric loves Meaghan’s caring nature and the passion she brings to everything she does.

The Proposal

On February 28, 2026, Eric set out to plan the perfect proposal… though it didn’t exactly go as planned. In true Eric fashion, the evening began with an ambitious idea: a romantic moment in a wood-fired hot tub. Unfortunately, the water never made it past 50 degrees. Plan B involved a cozy indoor setup by the woodstove—until that quite literally went up in smoke and filled the Airbnb. But third time’s the charm. The next day, while skiing at Okemo Mountain Resort, Eric pulled off one final pivot. Right there, on the side of a ski trail, he stopped, got down on one knee, and asked the question. Meaghan, caught between excitement, disbelief, and a very real concern that another skier might come flying down the mountain at any moment, said yes. The proposal was a surprise—but not entirely. Eric is known for being sentimental, and their annual winter ski trips (from Burke to Stowe and now Okemo) had become a meaningful tradition. Still, nothing could fully prepare Meaghan for that moment—overwhelmed, overjoyed, and completely swept off her feet by someone who loves her enough to choose her forever.
