For months on end my uncle told me about this cute bartender at a restaurant called Bobbers in Lake Zurich. Finally, one day after work we decided to stop for drinks and that was the day I met Nicole for the first time. We talked as if we had known each other for decades, and she later told me that she normally closes early if there was no one in there, but she made an exception for me (a fact she still likes to constantly remind about!). I didn't hear back from her for quite some time until one night I was in Dallas on business and got a random call from my uncle, "Brennan, I'm at Bobbers and that cute Nicole girl is working - do you want to talk with her?!" Before I could even breathe out a syllable Nicole was on the other end of the phone, both of us in an awkward forced conversation. I remember hanging up after an uncomfortable minute saying to the person with me... "well I just blew that one". Little did I know back in Lake Zurich Nicole was calling her dad and asking for a picture of my business card she had kept hanging in her room. Later that night I got the best text of my life when Nicole proposed the idea of getting some dinner when I finally returned home. I jumped on the opportunity and a week later we finally had our first date. Nicole showed up a half hour late (totally opposite of her personality) because she was told by everyone at Bobber's you should never show up "on-time" or "without a little buzz". I didn't think anything of it as I had made friends with the people around me by the time she got there and was just happy she showed up! Like the first night we met the conversation flowed smoothly - we talked about everything: hard times in our lives, our love of family, and what we wanted from a truly good relationship. We both considered it the best first date in history. Since our first date we have gone on countless adventures together, had times we have tested our bond, and always aim to make the other laugh for a smile.
