Drew and I met online... yes online. He was still living in Corpus at the time but traveling to Houston every other weekend for work. We had been talking back and forth for a bit before we met in person and our first date was at Gyu Kaku in Houston. It didn't take long for us to realize there was something special there. We instantly became best friends, and I was hooked. Over the years, our relationship has grown so deep and is so beautiful.
I have always told Drew that he isn't much of a planner.... well after this day, he proved me wrong. Drew had told me a couple days in advance that he wanted to try out this restaurant, Lucille's, for dinner on Saturday. He said that they were so busy, the only time for the reservation he could get was at 5:15. Before we left for dinner, Drew was complaining of having a stomach ache and so I suggested we cancel dinner. I said "we can go have dinner any time!" But he insisted that we still go. Dinner at Lucille's was AMAZING, and we had a great time. After, we were driving around and came to Hermann Park and decided to walk around. I had no idea this all existed, it's so beautiful!! As we are walking along, we came to this mini bridge in which we stopped for a moment. Drew began to tell me that he wasn't feeling well because he was sick, but because he is just really nervous. He began to tell me that he has been trying to find the write words to say during this moment, but it turns out he has already said them to me. He continues to pull out his phone and read a text message he previously sent me almost 2 and a half years ago. I'll let this text be private, but the words brought me to tears and are filled with so much love. He then got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. I am in complete shock and disbelief that this is all happening (and cannot stop crying). I immediately say YES! The first thing I want to do after this amazing moment, is call my mom. I give her a call as Drew is telling me that we are going somewhere to have a toast. As I am telling my mom the news, I have no idea what is waiting for us at our next destination. We pull up at Hotel Zaza, walk in and are greeted by both of our families and I cannot believe it! We then had a toast, took a million pictures and spent the rest of the night together celebrating this moment. I could not have dreamed a better night. We are both so excited to start this journey together!
