The year was 2014, David was a new graduate eager to start his first day as an intern at the flagship hospital of the infamous Veterinary Clinics of America (VCA). Beth had just completed her internship at this same hospital and was staying on to mentor the next year’s intern class as an emergency doctor. The two had come to learn from some of the best doctors in the country and would gain more than knowledge that year. Fast forward to Halloween on the Queen Mary where David dressed up as Ace Ventura, the lead character from the greatest movie of all time. The two bonded over their love of scary mazes and great costumes. Over the next year Beth and David got to know each other over long walks on the pristine shores of Long Beach and weekend camping trips to Joshua Tree and Big Sur. All while thinking their forbidden love was the best kept secret in the hospital.
Beth thought relocating their family to Boston to complete a residency in Emergency and Critical Care was a good idea. While Beth worked long hours saving lives in the intensive care unit at the well known Angell Animal Medical Center David honed his skills as a well rounded general practitioner learning from the best of the best. There they learned to support eachother through the toughest of times and grew their family adopting two furbabies, Sharkbait and Poppy.
In the summer of 2018 Beth and David’s time in Boston came to an end. David planned the most epic journey home. Renting an RV their family took the long journey west getting soaked by Niagra Falls, eating deep dish in Chicago, pinching tiny heads at Mount Rushmore, munching popcorn at the World Famous Corn Palace, sinking into the mud in the Badlands, and waking up early to see the wolves of Yellowstone. David asked Beth to be his adventure partner for life at the top of Elephant Back Mountain Trail while overlooking Yellowstone Lake.
