There was no big, dramatic meeting — just a bunch of little ones that kept adding up. Tyler and Angie kept bumping into each other at random places: bars, parties, bathroom breaks (yes, really). Every time, they would end up laughing at the same awkward jokes, with the same not-so-great sense of humor that somehow worked perfectly when they were together. At first, they thought they were just becoming friends. But apparently, everyone else saw it before they ever did… especially Angie’s sister. After one particular night out, she flat-out asked Tyler, “When are you going to ask her out?” Eventually, he did — and that’s when everything clicked. Turns out, the best relationships really do start with friendship, a few laughs, and a couple of coincidences.
On a trip to Packwood, WA, up in the mountains and climbing up waterfalls, Tyler was carrying a little secret (and a ring tucked deep in his pocket). He’d even bought a GoPro just for the trip, casually snapping pictures and recording along the way so Angie wouldn’t suspect a thing. While hiking one afternoon, he waited — very patiently — for people to clear off the trail. To the point Angie was questioning why he wouldn’t move on, sure it was a cool waterfall but not that cool. Once the trail finally cleared, knowing Angie’s love for quiet moments (aka mild social anxiety), he set up the camera and said, “Let’s take a picture together.” Just as one would suspect, this “picture” was actually a video. And that’s when he walked over, fumbled awkwardly for the ring, and got down on one knee. Later, he admitted he’d been more nervous about getting the ring through airport security than the actual proposal. But somehow, Tyler pulled it all off — the perfect moment, perfectly us. Truly the most incredible trip they have ever taken, to this day.
