On January 16, 2019 Denise and Daniel agreed to meet for their first date at Dead Poets, a cocktail bar on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Like most millennials they started their friendship online, exchanging funny stories as a way to learn more about each others lives. Dan was a first year graduate student at Columbia and Denise was a marketing manager for the NBA, both curious and inquisitive people. Conversation flowed naturally for several hours and they knew they were going to see each other again. They dated every week from that day forward.

On November 20, 2021, Denise and Daniel were getting ready for a friend's wedding party in Brooklyn. Dan suggested that they make an evening out of it and go to Roosevelt Island beforehand to see the stunning city views. As they walked along the coast of Roosevelt Island, Denise was regretting agreeing to explore in her heels. She was getting ready to turn around and head back to the warmth of a local bar, when Dan grabbed her hand, eyes filled with water. She instantly knew why they were there. Denise said yes to Dan's proposal between tears of joy and surprise. The surprises continued for Denise, as some of their closest friends and family were waiting for them at Roosevelt Island's Panorama Room. Celebrations continued into the evening with dinner, drinks, and lots of laughter.
