On a quiet night in the beginning of the global shut down of 2020, Darrell and Amber “swiped right” on the dating App Hinge. Darell sent the first message. “Hi”…. Amber responded and asked him about his interests and discussed the pandemic. It was then where they discovered they lived in two different states just under 3 hours away. After long conversations on FaceTime and over the phone, Darrell crossed state lines to share their first date. Still, the world was shut down, so Amber took him to the Detroit river walk and ordered take out from Benihana to eat at the river. Every other weekend, they’d take turns visiting each other. Eventually, Amber accepted a position in healthcare in Ohio and began to journey from Hinge to Hammett. * A beautiful fact, Darrell's father and Amber's mother share the same birthday, August 2nd. They are both in heaven above and are loved and missed immensely by all.
