North Georgia - Hiking and Trails

Cane Creek Falls, Dahlonega, GA 30533

There are tons of hiking trails both for day hikes and backpacking trips around Dahlonega. Here is a link with some of the trails nearby as well as some of the top parks/trails recommended. APPALACHIAN TRAIL This trail begins at Springer Mountain and leaves the Peach State 79 miles later at Bly Gap. The rugged, often rocky terrain reaches a height of more than 4400 feet and never dips below 2500 feet. The high point of the trail is at Blood Mountain (4,461 ft.) while the low point is Dicks Creek Gap (2,675 ft.) AMICALOLA FALLS STATE PARK Amicalola Falls is the highest waterfall east of the Mississippi River, is a popular beginning or end for Appalachian trail hikers. Hiking opportunities include the staircase trail which ascends the 729-foot waterfall. BENTON MACKAYE TRAIL This trail begins on Springer Mountain and ends in the Smoky Mountain National Park, a distance of nearly 300 miles. The BMT intersects several other trails and affords many varying routes and loops.

Ponce City Market

, (404) 900-7900

The historic structure, has been reinvented as a vibrant community hub housing the Central Food Hall, various shops, flats and offices, all while pointing back to the roots of its inception. Also, checkout the rooftop as it has panoramic views, an 18-hole mini golf course, boardwalk-style games and craft cocktails.

Piedmont Park / The Atlanta Beltline

This is a great location to park the car and start walking the beltline. 33 miles of rail lines transformed into walking and biking paths with lots of great food and drinks on the walk! The beltline will take you into Piedmont Park and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens where they have special events and festivals for this time of year.
