Our first phone call lasted 4 hours, which included Dee narrating the Locked Up Abroad marathon she was watching. This was back in 2011 when people still talked on the phone. Paul wondered if the girl he met online might be a little odd, but still asked her to meet up IRL (*in real life*). In a public place, of course, for everyone's safety. We met up at Doc's - the classiest of dive bars - a few days later. Under the watchful eye of Dee's best friend sitting across the room (again, safety first), we talked about everything under the sun. Fast forward two years later and we had developed a wonderful friendship based on a mutual appreciation of music, kung fu movies, traveling, food, beer, laughing, and learning. Even when Paul moved across the country to attend grad school in Denver in 2013, we stayed in touch, talking almost daily. It was around this time that we realized that we “like-liked” each other and now - 6 years later - we’ve lived states and oceans apart and we’ve lived together in 400sqft with 2 cats. We’ve taken spontaneous road trips up and down the east coast, island hopped through Southeast Asia, renovated our first home together, and welcomed the most handsome dog in the world to our family. Last Fall, Paul popped the question and Dee said yes! We are so excited to start this new chapter together and can’t wait to celebrate with all of our favorite people!
