It's Happening!

Serendipity some might say, aligned these two paths on a summer weekend in July. They met in Oakland, they both happened to be in town for the weekend. He sat there patient. Hoping to recognize her. Wondering would he remember her? Would she be as familiar as she always had been? What's different about her? Would she remember him too? They had no expectations, but they had an everlasting friendship. There she was, crossing the street. He knew she hadn't seen him, but he couldn't take his eyes off of her. She is still her. Even from a distance, he thought. Young and vibrant, just how he remembered, yet there was much more to her now. He was overwhelmed. The way he felt was more than what he was expecting. He knew before she even walked into the restaurant, she was perfect. She greets him with a smile that lit up the entire room. She held his hug long enough to let him know she was feeling it too. Their love was still very much alive, and now floating and filling every inch of air around them. They both felt this incredible feeling of home when they locked eyes. They sat across from each other, smiling like high school kids, reminiscing about the times they used to spend, all the things they did together, and learning everything new about each other. They laughed and laughed, as if they hadn't laughed that much since the last time they were together. The conversation seemed insatiable, as if they hadn't talked that much since the last time they talked to each other. He doesn't usually share food, but he did that day. He wanted her to know that this time, it was going to be different. She could see it in his eyes that they found their way home.
