How We Met

Katherine's Story

The first time I saw David was at our church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, during Confirmation class in 2005. We were in different classes so I never got to officially meet him, but I remember telling my friends that I thought he was cute. Years later on December 2012, my best friend Jaimie and I were at the gym. As Jaimie and I were working out, I see David passing by and I tell Jaimie, "OMG best friend! Remember the cute guy from church? He just passed by!". We then headed to the sauna and as soon as we go in, there he was. "The cute guy from church" was in the sauna sitting with a towel over his head. Jaimie looks at me and whispers, "Best friend, isn't that him? There is a spot right next to him, go sit next to him!" All I could think of was how sweaty and how un-cute I looked. I did not want to sit next to him looking like that. Jaimie then sits near him and tells me, "Kat look, there's a spot for you to sit right here." Of course, that spot was right next to him. As I sat next to him I tried not to make it awkward and was trying my best to not have sweat drop down my face. After a few seconds, "the cute guy from church" asked me, "Hey! Didn't you go to Fullerton?" I replied, "Yes! How do you know?" He said, "I went to one of your college parties at the Angel Stadium." I said, "ohhhh, you were there?" He said, "yea! You were wearing a yellow dress." I died. "My name is David," he said. "I am Katherine", I replied and shook his hand. He then left the sauna and as I looked at Jaimie, she was giggling with a smile.

How We Met

David's Side

The day I first saw Katherine was some time ago at our church. She claims to have seen me in confirmation class and oh man, I wish I had seen her. Since we went to the same church, I sat in the middle with my family and Kat sat on the far right benches with her family. I couldn’t help but notice and look over at her to see if she would notice me. At the time, I think she didn’t. Then in late 2012, I was getting a workout at the gym. I saw her there on an ab machine, but I didn’t think she noticed me. I went to the sauna for a post workout and wouldn’t you know what happens. She walks in with her friend. As excited as I was, I couldn’t show it, so I needed to say something that could start a conversation. Thinking quickly, I remembered I saw her at an Angel Stadium party hosted by her sorority. I asked, “Hey, didn’t you go to Fullerton?” I saw her lit up (lol). Well, we had a small conversation and then I said “lt’s getting hot in here. I better go. See ya at church.” (Lol).

As a couple the number 10 is their lucky number. Their hashtag: #DKinlove210 They came up with this hashtag a while back because they wanted to have their own to use for all of their memories.
