THE FIRST MEETING

It was the first week of training for Wentworth Institute of Technology's Opening Week for new Students. As recently hired Orientation Leaders, we all sat in the crowded auditorium, loudly chatting waiting for the training to start. Jordan, the socialite he is, was joking around with his good friends and decided to tease one of his female friends. I, hearing the teasing, jumped in to defend her from Jordan's comments and completely sassed him out. We started on a rocky first meeting, but throughout all of Orientation Week we began to get closer. After Orientation, we had some passing moments until eventually Jordan got the courage to ask for a first date. We went on several dates afterward and decided to make this thing official on 11/16/2014. The rest is history from there....

LONG DISTANCE BEGINNINGS

First Germany, then Texas...

When the relationship started in November, everything was going really smoothly. Eventually, my Study Abroad semester was approaching in May and the two of us were preparing to try the long distance thing. With a new relationship, there was some anxiety on both sides, but I believed as long as there was effort we would succeed. I set off for Berlin, Germany and Jordan stayed behind in Worchester, MA for his co-op job. All things went well, with weekly skype calls and daily texts. We missed each other, but knew that this temporary inconvenience would pass and we would be together again. About halfway through my Study Abroad, I was looking for my co-op for when I would return to the states. I ended up taking a job in Dallas, TX. So when I returned from Berlin after 3 months, I had about 3 weeks to spend with Jordan before moving out to Texas for another 3 months while Jordan stayed back in Boston for classes.

THE PROPOSAL

It was a chilly afternoon up in Farmington, ME. We had spent Saturday at Mt. Blue High School helping with a design workshop for incoming students. We were driving back to Jordan's parent's house and were passing through the town center when Melissa noted that she needed to pick something up at "Reny's". So They pulled over the car, and I noted that they had parked quite far away from the store.... We all got out and Jordan took my hand and walked me over to the town gazebo and into the center. There he asked me to marry him, and I was dumbstruck. I thought he was kidding... and had to ask several times through tears if he was serious. Eventually, I said yes, we drove back to the house and had a little Engagement Fiesta with the family to celebrate.

THE NEXT CHAPTER

After a few rocky first jobs, lots of moving around, and really solidifying our relationship, we have both settled in Boston for now. We enjoy visiting family, cooking breakfast foods, playing video games, and getting outside for some disc-golf. The future is extremely uncertain at this time, but we soon plan to buy a house and start to really enjoy the newlywed lifestyle. Thank you to all our family and friends who have helped us get to where we are today. We are extremely excited to celebrate with you all and see what the future has in store.
