It was a warm summer day in August. Though Jordan had a hunch that something was amiss, she had no idea what was in store for the weekend as a whole. DJ spent the day welcoming friends into town, getting their apartment proposal-ready, and putting finishing touches on the letter album, while Jordan spent the day at work. Around 5PM, Jordan was off the clock and on her way home. As she walked into their Logan Circle home, she was immediately greeted by dozens of flowers and candles, a glass of wine, and an extremely nervous DJ. DJ sat Jordan down on the couch and presented her with a gift: the letter album. Over the years before DJ moved to the District, he and Jordan wrote many letters to each other. These letters reflected the countless memories they forged together- vacations, dates, holidays, good times and tough times... but they all had one common theme. All of these letters recounted the times they spent together and how their love grew as time passed. The album came with several blank pages at the end and one final letter, dated 8.17.18. DJ read Jordan the letter and tears of joy rolled down his face as he read the final line, “will you marry me?” He forgot to get down on one knee before popping the question, but Jordan leapt into his arms and screamed “of course!” before he could correct himself. They finished their wines, called their families, and headed to Provision14 to begin a weekend filled with friends, family, laughter, baseball, and a short detour to the ER.
