We were very fortunate that Rachel works in the craft beer industry and DJ is a craft beer dork. Back in 2014, Rachel was working at a local Chicago brewery that DJ happened to be a frequent patron at. Unbeknownst to each other this is where everything would start... Rachel was DJ's server one bright Summer day in 2014. DJ complained about his food (big surprise), and he offered up suggestions on how it could be improved (even bigger surprise). Banter was simple and sweet, and obviously a little flirtatious, but harmful nonetheless. We have all learned as we got older not to be the creep who hits on your server. After all was said and done, DJ thought the service was amazing and appreciated Rachel's receptiveness to a 'rough around the edges' New York transplant. They parted ways, lives went on, but that day will always be what set things in motion. Years later, relationships later, DJ was living in a different neighborhood and Rachel was working at the sister brewery to the one they originally met at in his neighborhood. While sitting outside on the patio in 2017, with some friends, DJ saw Rachel serving and immediately started talking about their first encounter to his friends and how he had always remembered her. Rachel and DJ chatted briefly (doing that awkward finger guns point thing and the "oh, I remember you") and when she walked away from the table, DJ turned to his friends and told them "I am going to date that girl". DJ developed into a regular at the brewery in his new neighborhood and he would always run into Rachel when she was working and have casual chit chat. Eventually, things aligned and DJ asked Rachel out for coffee in February 2018. She said she didn't really drink coffee...super. He suggested lunch, or a beer, or anything really and fortunately, she said yes. The first real date was May 15th, 2018 and by June 3rd, DJ knew and texted a friend saying he was going to marry Rachel. Fast forward and now we officially have a date. 05/02/2021
