It’s time to tie the knot!

DJ and Jessa's story begins at one of the many cookouts held at DJ's Uncle Junior's house. Jessa only knew the people she had come with, Casey, Ryan and Cassie Wine, but that didn't stop Casey and Jessa from challenging DJ and his cousin to a game of tag football. She doesn't remember who won the game that night, but does remember wanting to know more about the cute boy with the Justin Bieber hair. Apparently, DJ thought the same and sent her a friend request on Facebook a few days later. They built a friendship with each other, learning about each others favorite artist and songs, their crazy families, pets they love and favorite sports teams. They dated for a little over a year in the 9th grade after being friends for a year or two, but went their separate ways for bit. 3 years later in 2017, DJ and Jessa found their way back to each other, and it was like no time had passed. DJ would swing by the drive-thru to visit Jessa at her job at Bojangles on his way to work, brightening her day. They had countless Zaxby's and Tony's Ice cream dates (yes, we like to eat). Many hours were spent on FaceTime studying together when DJ went off for college, and when DJ could make it home they would make the most of their time and go fishing, see a movie, or grab a much needed Tony's milkshake. While their lives started to change, their love still remained. DJ & Jessa started making some adult decisions during 2020 and wanted to find a place of their own, after adding their dog Cupid to the mix. Once their home was in the process of being built, Jessa was presented with the opportunity to pursue her dream career path. The couple worked together and supported each other through the stressful moments life will give us. In 2021, Jessa & DJ planned a trip to Lynchburg, TN to visit and tour the Jack Daniel's distillery for the weekend. Mother Nature had other plans and a big snow storm was heading their way, cutting the trip short. Jessa had a feeling he would pop the question during this trip, but when and where was unknown, as the weather kept messing DJ's plan up (his words). While signing the guest book at the AirBnB, Jessa turned around to ask DJ how to spell something and there he was on one knee to ask the question right there in the living room. He nailed it, and Jessa was genuinely surprised. Despite distance, separation, loss, grief, new career paths and passions, joy and celebration, their love continues to grow along with them. These two will be forever grateful for two-handed tag football and Uncle Juniors cookouts.
