Newark is closest airport and take a short Uber/Lyft. Laguardia and JKF are also doable, however its a longer Uber/Lyft or public transit to New York Penn Station then grab the 33rd PATH train to Newport.
Train
Hotels and Battello are right near the Newport PATH Station. You can use this station stop to get in and out of NYC via the PATH Train ~20 minuets.
