FAQs

The Wedding Website of Emily Dixon and Garrett Born
Question

When Should I Arrive to NYC?

Answer

The official wedding reception (the main event) is Saturday at 5:00 p.m., but we will be having an informal gathering the night before. If you want to attend all the events, I suggest Thursday night or Friday morning. For family attending the courthouse ceremony, Thursday night would be advised

Question

Will There Be Transportation To The Events?

Answer

We will not have designated transportation to our wedding. However, Uber/Lift, buses, trains and the subway are all options! The hotels we recommended on our travel page are all within walking distance to the venue and the courthouse. There are multiple transportation options to and from the airport. Uber/Lift are the most direct, but a cheaper option is the train and subway

Question

Do I Need To Rent A Car?

Answer

Nope! This is New York City baby, and driving in the city is incredibly inconvenient. The subway and buses are truly the best way to get around the city. Plus, that is the full New York experience. If you are not comfortable riding public transit, a classic cab fare will still be way cheaper than the rental car fee and the cost and hastle of parking.

Question

Where Should I Stay?

Answer

Check out the travel tab on our website for some recommendations. The wedding is in the financial district, so consider "fidi/downtown" when looking for a hotel, however Tribeca/Soho and The Lower East Side are other great neighborhood options. Luckily in a big city, there are many hotel options for all budgets.

Question

What Should I Wear?

Answer

The night before happy hour is casual, although cocktail attire is encouraged. For the Wedding Reception, the attire is Black Tie. What is black tie? Here is an article explaining the nuances of the dress code: https://www.vogue.com/article/black-tie-dress-code Dress to impress! We all know Emily is a fashion girly, so if you show up in something funky she'l love it.

Question

What Should I Pack?

Answer

Other than your formal wear, it is early June, so the weather should be pleasant and not too hot. A light jacket for at night, and DEFINITELY bring comfortable walking shoes. Also I would suggest a purse/bag that you can zip close and strap to you if you plan to explore the city.

Question

Can I Bring A Plus One?

Answer

Sorry, no. Due to the limited space at the venue, only the names on your invitations are permitted to the event.

Question

Can I Bring My Kids?

Answer

We kindly ask that this be a kid-free event.
