We met each other at the very end of our senior year and spent just about every day together that summer. What started as hanging out quickly turned into something we never wanted to be without. Our first date was the beginning of everything for us. We went roller skating, where Hunter confidently claimed he was the worst skater alive, only to immediately prove himself suspiciously good at it. After working up an appetite, we headed to one of our now favorite spots, Iron Age, where the food and conversation just kept getting better. On our walk back to the car, we somehow managed to end up at the wrong one and laughed the whole way through it. It was a perfect mix of sweet, silly, and just the right amount of chaos.
Several years ago, Emily had a few too many drinks and confessed how in love she was with Hunter. He giggled, knowing he felt the same. This would be returned in a Hunters also drunk confession to Emily that he was going to marry her one day. Emily laughed it off at the time, but as it turns out, he was very serious about following through. On Christmas Day, surrounded by her family and all the people she loves most, he proposed. Emily was completely caught off guard and in total shock, barely able to believe what was happening in the best possible way. It felt especially perfect because she had always told Hunter that if he ever proposed, she wanted her family there to share the moment. And true to his word, he made sure it happened exactly that way.
