A "Haldi", "Pasupu" [Telugu], or "Nalangu" [Tamil] ceremony, by any name, is a vibrant and joyous event filled with the sweet fragrance of Rose and Sandalwood. This ritual involves applying a paste made of turmeric, sandalwood, and rose water to the bride and groom's skin by family and friends. The bright yellow color is believed to bring good luck and ward off evil spirits, while the mixture's herbal properties are thought to purify the skin and bring out the natural radiance of the couple for their wedding day. The ceremony is also a symbolic representation of blessings for the couple's new life together. It's a time of laughter, music, and celebration, as loved ones come together to participate in this auspicious pre-wedding ritual. + Mimosas
Our Mehndi party will be happening during our brunch on Thursday. "Mehndi" is a paste made from the dried leaves of the Henna plant which contains a copper colored dye. Skilled mehndi artists will be available to apply henna tattoos to your hands in intricate designs that will last through to the end of the wedding. The longer you leave it on to dry, the darker the color!
A Sangeet is a celebration of music and dance. Both families, as well as friends are encouraged to showcase their talents--whether it be singing, dancing, playing an instrument. We're all family here and our mission this night is to have as much fun as possible singing, dancing, drinking, eating, and laughing together.
