We first met at the National Communication Association Conference in New Orleans, shortly after Felicity had delivered her first conference presentation. Later that day, we joined our African colleagues for a warm get-together at a restaurant near the conference venue. What began as a casual conversation the next evening slowly blossomed into a genuine friendship. At the time, many of our conversations revolved around Felicity’s PhD applications. In those moments, I was drawn to her intelligence, organization, affable nature, and unwavering work ethic. These qualities not only inspired admiration but also deepened our bond. I soon became Felicity’s study partner, offering support, encouragement, and companionship along the journey. Being a very shy and reserved person, Ohema, Felicity's bestfriend was of great help to us. Anne, my good sister, also played a significant role when I began talking with Felicity. I guess you are wondering why. At the time I met Felicity, she made it clear she had decided to close her mind to relationships and focus solely on her academics, but with the help of her best friend, I was able to get her attention and help her see beyond us being just friends. Our relationship truly began when Felicity moved to Maryland to commence her PhD in August 2023. From that point on, we walked together through seasons of growth, challenges, and triumphs. We have faced ups and downs, but through it all, God has been faithful. This is how far the Lord has brought us—and the rest, truly, is history.
