The average high in Lajitas in September is 95, and the average low is 68. Keep an eye on the weather as the date approaches, and keep in mind that the sun in this region of Texas is very strong! If you plan on hiking, golfing, or otherwise spending a lot of time outdoors, make sure to bring a hat with a brim, long-sleeve shirts, and sunscreen. Most importantly, be sure to stay hydrated!
Unfortunately, the options for groceries are extremely limited in Lajitas and Terlingua. If you know that you will want to bring any groceries for yourself, we recommend picking them up on your way to the resort either in Midland or in Alpine.
In the National Park, one of our favorites is the Lost Mine Trail. It's about 4.5 miles round trip and offers amazing views at the top. Shorter, easier trails include the Grapevine Hills Trail and the Burro Mesa Pouroff. All of these trails are about 40 miles from the resort and can get VERY hot even before noon, so plan accordingly and bring plenty of water. Check nps.gov/bibe for maps to the trailheads. Check with the Barton Warnock center in Lajitas for hiking recommendations for the State Park.
