For those of you traveling from out-of-state, North Conway is one of our favorite towns in NH! It is just over an hour from Plymouth, NH, but has a great selection of outlets to check out, ski mountains that are open for the summer for hiking/sight-seeing, and is the home of Mount Washington!
Take a walk around Plymouth Town Common and visit quaint gift shops, restaurants, candy shop, ice cream shop and cafes.
Length: 3.6 miles Plymouth Mountain is a great hiking option just a 15min drive from the Common Man Inn. It is a short 3.6-mile round trip hike, but is steep with not many flat sections. The trail travels over Pike's Peak, which has the best views on the trail, overlooking the surrounding mountains. This is a good option for those who do not want to travel too far outside the town to enjoy beautiful views!
The Polar Caves were formed during the last Ice Age. When the glaciers moved and changed the landscape it created caves and passageways. Visit this natural landform with a Cave Pass, offering 2 hours of park access.
Waterville Valley is a short 15-20min drive from the center of Plymouth. It is home to the oldest networks of hiking trails in the US, and holds 5 of the White Mountain's 4,000-footer mountains. Aside from being a hiker's paradise, it is home to Waterville Valley Resort, who first branded freestyle skiing! The resort's lifts are available during off-season to enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding White Mountains, and to roam the mountain peaks by foot. For our adventure-seekers, you can even rent a mountain bike to explore lift-serviced trails and more! The options are endless.
Length: 2.2 miles Elevation Gain: 490 feet Flume Gorge is a popular thing to do in the White Mountains. It is a 2.2-mile round trip easy hike that brings you through a 90-ft gorge with waterfalls, a covered bridge, and glacial boulders. It is a 30min drive from the Common Man Inn! It is a good hiking option for all ages.
Mount Osceola is just one of the 48 4,000-footers in NH that we would recommend for those of you who have an extra day in the area to spare! It is a 30min drive from the town of Plymouth and the peak has STUNNING views of the surrounding mountains. Make sure to pack lunch to enjoy at the summit :)
