The Hindu wedding ceremony in Highgate Temple is made up of many elements and takes place on Friday 8 May which is a bank holiday in the UK. All you need to know for now is this will be held in Highgate Temple (in North London), and the ceremony will last from 10 am - noon, followed by lunch at noon - 2 pm. We would request that you arrive in plenty of time for lunch (and please arrive from 10 am onwards if you would like to witness the Indian ceremony). As the nature of the ceremony is religious, the food will be vegetarian and no alcohol will be served at the temple. The dress code is Traditional/Smart Colourful. On Saturday 9 May, we will be having a reception at St. Stephen's Church, Hampstead. A ceremony will take place from 2.30 pm - 4 pm, followed by drinks and dancing till late, so please bring your dancing shoes! The dress code is also Traditional/Smart Colourful.
Please email dishawedsarun@gmail.com to RSVP to both the Highgate Indian Ceremony and Hampstead St Stephen's Church Reception. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements or song requests!
You joining us to celebrate is all the gift we need. However if you would like to get us a gift, we are off to South Africa and Mauritius after the wedding and have created a gift list for our honeymoon adventures, where you can also donate to a charity called India Direct if you wish which does fantastic work in South India: https://prezola.com/wishlists/10209516/
London is somewhat notorious for its fickle weather, but in the month of May days are longer and the sun is inching its way toward warm. Please pack in a way that is prepared for change, and keep a lightweight waterproof jacket with you for days out.
The London Underground and London buses are the best way to get around London. A pass can be bought at any underground station and the tubes and buses run late at night so getting to and from the venues late should not be an issue. Uber is also an option for those who prefer to get a taxi.
