Maggie and Caleb met on a fateful night on July 5th, 2019, brought together by mutual friends. Caleb was visiting the city of Austin and, as young people do, found himself on 6th Street where Maggie was also enjoying her evening. Their individual adventures that evening took them to Buford’s, an iconic venue on 6th Street. Each has their own version of the initial events, but the short of it is Caleb saw Maggie being continually bumped by passing strangers, reached out and offered to swap spots with her, and from that moment on the crowd and the rest of the friend group melted away and it was just Maggie and Caleb in the bar. The next few hours were spent discussing each other’s hopes, dreams, and things that Maggie and Caleb held closest to their hearts. They wrapped up the evening sharing slices of Rappolo’s pizza on the curb, and when the night finally did come to an end, both were counting the seconds until they could see each other again. Although Maggie was adamant that she would not be distracted by any boy as she prepared to begin her tenure as a graduate student at University of Texas at Dallas, she would go on to tell her best friends the next day that she had met ‘The One.’ Maggie and Caleb would stay in contact over the next month, talking every day leading up to their reunion in mid-August when Maggie made her move for school. Over the next 3 years, Maggie and Caleb would grow together as they endured a global pandemic, watched Caleb begin a new career, saw Maggie graduate with her master’s in biomedical engineering, start her career, welcomed their cat T’Challa into their family, and bought their first home together in Austin, TX. On June 3rd, 2023, Maggie arrived at the Umlauf sculpture gardens in Austin. As one of her favorite songs began to play, Caleb descended a set of steps to her right in a sky-blue jacket (an ode to the suit Maggie’s father wore on his wedding day) with the biggest smile you’ve ever seen on his face. Tears began dropping from Maggie’s eyes as Caleb approached her, dropped to a knee, and asked her to spend forever with him. The couple is extremely excited for their big day and is so honored to share this moment with you. We cannot wait to see you all and celebrate with you!
