On a hot summer day in August of 2016, I (Dionna) met Ben by a chance encounter when we were introduced by my mom, Diana. Ben and my mom worked together at Sierra Army Depot and the Depot was hosting its last Employee Appreciation Barbeque. When we met, we exchanged names and pleasantries, shook hands and went on our way. Later in the day, we crossed paths again, both too nervous to speak to one another. But, when my mom realized there was an attraction she decided to play matchmaker and secretly passed my phone number to Ben, through a mutual friend. 3 days later he called and asked if I would be willing to go out to dinner with him, to which I excitedly agreed. He picked me up, like a gentleman and took me to a Japanese Steakhouse where he had made a reservation. We immediately hit it off and talked until the restaurant closed, barely touching our food. The connection we shared that night has never dissipated, even 5 years later. We knew we were made for each other.
Many people are probably wondering how we ended up here, engaged, and getting married in November. On a family trip in Hawaii, Ben and I realized how very much in love with one another we still are and how much we wanted to make it work. We talked extensively about the life we wanted to create together and the life we wanted for our children. With much careful consideration and prayer, we decided to give it a go! Upon returning home from Hawaii, Ben asked me to marry him and I said YES!!! It is clear to both of us that God has blessed family, union, and marriage. We would love to have your blessing as we celebrate in this joyous union.
