How we met...

Our story began in the spring months of 2009... Dylan & I were both seniors at Concord High School. We didn't have the same class schedule but we both happened to attend the big Senior Trip to the Wisconsin Dells. To be more specific, we went to a waterpark at the Kalahari Resorts in the Wisconsin Dells. On the trip, I was hanging out with my friends & Dylan was hanging with his group of friends when we happened to make eye contact across the way at the waterpark... I can't remember exactly who made the first move (I'm sure Dylan remembers better than I do, haha!) But all I remember is us hanging out when we got back to town... We hung out for a few months but never really took our relationship to the next level. In fact, we kinda went our separate ways for a while. Fast forward to my last year of college... Dylan had just gotten back from living in Colorado for 6 months & I was on my last few semesters of school. - Fun fact: we always stayed friends over the years, we even had a few classes together in college. - One day, I noticed Dylan "liking" my stuff on Facebook. I thought, "how strange but hey, I've always thought he was cute, I'm going to send him a message". I sent him a message that said "hey stranger, what have you been up to?" After several days of exchanging messages back & forth, we decided to meet at Hacienda for a "date". We kept it casual & spent most of the meal just catching up. After that we started hanging out more & more... On June 2nd, 2014, Dylan asked me to be his girlfriend. ... And the rest is history. <3

How he asked...

Every year, our friends go on an annual camping trip. This was the first year we could go! There were 11 of us & we rented out an Airbnb cabin! All of us except 2 people got there Thursday night. Friday, we all got up & went hiking. We went to this trail that took us about 4.4 miles round trip & we stopped at a few lake viewpoints to get pictures. Our buddy, Billy Sommers brought his tripod & camcorder & we would occasionally on our hike, stop & take a group photo. .. we get back to the Airbnb, make dinner & wait for the last 2 people to arrive. We all decide we should go watch the sunset somewhere on the beach. Billy finds a spot called Oakapiney Beach Resort. Without my knowledge, he calls the lady that owns the resort & explains what’s going on, making sure we’re able to access the beach part. She says of course & allows us access even though it’s reserved for people renting out her cabins. .. so we get to the beach spot & are just enjoying each other’s company, taking photos in front of the water, etc. We knew going into the beach area that we were going to get a group photo so Billy set up his camera again. I finally say “alright, let’s get our group photo.” Dylan & I start the line of people & we stand smack dab in the middle which isn’t typical of us. So everyone’s in place & Billy hits the button, with me thinking it’s a timed photo. .. Dylan turns to me & asks “do you know how much I love you?” (I’m thinking to myself “babe, we’re taking a picture, why are you telling me you love me right now?” Haha! So then he gets down on one knee & says, “I love you so much that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” I said an expletive word (I was so shocked!), kept asking “is this real? This is happening?” And I started crying! It was the most perfect moment in my life. I also noticed when Dylan got down on his knee, that our friend, Adam had started playing our song “You and Me” by Bassnectar on his Bluetooth speaker. Best day ever!
