We met during our very first week at Michigan State University in a calculus class back in 2018. Jill had been mistakenly placed in the business section of the course instead of the science section, and coincidentally, their now close friend (and groomsman), Nick, had also ended up in the wrong section. On a hot, stuffy day—thanks to MSU’s lack of air conditioning—Nick broke the ice with a simple, “It’s hot in here.” That small moment led to new friendships, study groups, and, eventually, something much more. Our first date was at the MSU Dairy Store—a classic choice, especially for freshmen without cars. After grabbing our ice cream, we took a walk to Jill’s favorite spot on campus: Beaumont Tower. Dima, understandably nervous, bit the bottom off his cone and ended up with chocolate ice cream all over his pants. Jill thought it was hilarious—and maybe even a little charming. That’s when she knew he was someone special. Nearly six years later, Dima proposed in that very same spot. Over the last seven years, we've grown together through every stage of life—from college bar crawls and long study nights, to starting our careers and planning our future. Now, we’re so excited to take the next step and begin this new chapter as husband and wife.
